Paul is a professionally qualified (JNC) Youth and Community worker and holds a BA (Hons) in Applied Youth and Community Work and an MA in Social Justice and Education. He has worked extensively with young people and communities in the voluntary and statutory sectors as a young volunteer and qualified youth and community worker. His experience of working with young people includes health promotion work and youth media projects.

OVERVIEW
Paul is a principal lecturer and MA Youth and Community Work course leader in the School of Childhood and Social Care (the course offers a JNC professional youth work qualification). He has substantial professional experience working with educational charities and children and young people’s services for over 18 years both locally and in national roles before becoming a full-time academic at UEL in 2005. He has an interest and background in the development of Global Youth Work, and for six years he was a trustee of Y Care International, an international youth relief and development agency.
He has substantial experience in teaching various UG and PG modules and supporting students to achieve their JNC status, specifically leading a field work practice module. He is also experienced in HE and has been an external examiner for three different MA/MSc professional JNC courses across England and Wales
CURRENT RESEARCH
- ‘Space to connect, challenge and change’ the use of online spaces for the creative engagement of excluded young people in programmes of non-formal education.
