OVERVIEW
Nikki is a lecturer in construction engineering management, delivering modules on supply chain management, digital built environment, project management and construction management. She received her PhD in Cybersecurity in the Built Environment from Birmingham City University and achieved her BEng and MSc (Hons) degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Birmingham (UoB). She is actively involved in research on digital construction, digital twins, BIM, digital transformation and cybersecurity in the built environment. The interdisciplinary nature of her research is driven by her combined passion for architecture, construction management and civil engineering.
As part of her research activities, Nikki leads the smart buildings research group of the IoT Security Foundation Association and she has actively contributed towards the development of a guidance document for the facilities management organisations, for the management of digital security within smart buildings. Nikki has also contributed as an authoring member of the UK BIM Alliance for the development of the ISO19650-5 Guidance document, and she is actively involved in the ongoing projects within the association.
Her expertise and knowledge in BIM have also led her to become a Women in BIM (WIB) mentor. Which involves providing advice and guidance to industry professionals who wish to implement BIM as part of their organisations' modus operandi.
