OVERVIEW
Jillian is the Subject Area Lead for Midwifery and a Senior Lecturer at the University of East London. She played a central role in developing and launching UEL’s BSc (Hons) Midwifery and Apprenticeship programmes, validated by the NMC in 2023. Before joining UEL, Jillian held senior midwifery roles at University College London Hospitals (UCLH), including Labour Ward Coordinator and Clinical Practice Facilitator, deepening her commitment to safe, evidence-based care and student support.
At UEL, she leads a curriculum focused on physiological birth, digital innovation, and inclusive practice. Jillian has built strong clinical partnerships with NHS Trusts such as Barts Health, Homerton, Barking, Havering and Redbridge, and North Middlesex, ensuring excellent placement experiences. She also led the development of UEL’s advanced simulation suite, introducing high-fidelity tools like Lucina and Baby Luna to enhance clinical learning. Jillian serves as an external examiner at Coventry University and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy. She is dedicated to developing midwives who are confident, compassionate, and ready to lead safe maternity care.
