Clara is a Senior Lecturer in Midwifery at the University of East London with extensive clinical, academic and research experience in maternity and women’s health. Her career spans hospital, community, and international settings, with a focus on improving care through education, research, and inclusive practice. At UEL, she leads the biosciences module for midwives and supports innovation in digital and simulation-based learning.
Clara’s research explores how evidence-based interventions can support physical and emotional wellbeing across the reproductive journey, with published work on stroke in women, contraceptive care after abortion, and mindfulness for pelvic pain. She has a growing interest in fertility, postnatal education, and antenatal care for fathers and partners.
Outside academia, Clara delivers antenatal classes to expecting families, covering birth preparation, early parenting, and postnatal wellbeing. She brings warmth, insight, and hands-on experience to her teaching, helping students develop confidence, critical thinking, and compassionate care. She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
