OVERVIEW
Anna is a chartered landscape architect passionate about creating inclusive, sustainable and beautiful spaces. Prior to becoming an academic, she worked for several design practices, including Gillespies and BM; she also created the L3 LTA program. Anna’s academic research focuses on the cognitive role of sketching in landscape architecture education, exploring how it enhances design thinking, visualisation, and problem-solving. By examining sketching as a tool for conceptual understanding, Anna’s work contributes to the creation of sustainable and inclusive design. Her research also spans green-blue infrastructure, active transportation, liveable cities, and the sociology of space, with a strong emphasis on biodiversity, accessibility, and universal design. In addition to her academic pursuits, Anna maintains an active practice and advise on landscape architecture and placemaking as a member of the planning review panel. Her professional experience with design firms informs her teaching, allowing her to bridge theory and practice, fostering innovation in both landscape education and real-world applications.
