As a graduate of the International Center of Photography in New York and a former printer at Magnum Photos, Adam Wiseman's career has been marked by his relationship to photojournalism. His subjects are clearly interposed with an understanding of image as something between document and intersubjectivity.
Wiseman has lived in Mexico City, NY, Scotland, Brazil and London. He has a BA from New York University in Ethnographic Film (1992) and completed the Documentary Program at the International Center of Photography in NY (1996). He is a two-time recipient of Mexico's Endowment Of the Arts SNCA/FONCA fellowship 2012-2015 and 2018-2021.
He is now Course Leader for BA (Hons) Photography and BA (Hons) Commercial Photography.

OVERVIEW
Born in Mexico City in 1970, Wiseman has lived in Mexico, NY, Scotland and Brazil. He has a BA from NYU in Ethnographic Film (1992) and completed the Documentary Program at the International Center of Photography in NY (1996).
Wiseman spent 13 years working as a freelance photographer and two years as a fine printer for the Magnum photo agency, then spent 17 years in Mexico City teaching and working on photography-based projects.
Selected for the XVI Bienal de la Fotografía in 2016 and 2014 consecutively he is also the twice recipient of Mexico’s prestigious Endowment Of the Arts SNCA/FONCA fellowship (2012-15 & 2017-20). A Photolucida Critical Mass top 50 (2012), recipient of the Best of Show Award in 2012 from the Photo Review Competition, selected as a PhotoEspaña Visionary and a Prix Pictet nominee in 2013, 2015, and 2019. His work has been featured in LENSCRATCH, Fototazo, Developtube, Porcupine, LATAM and F-Stop Magazines.
Wiseman's work seeks to review orthodoxy within the traditional documentary process by addressing the role of objectivity in an intrinsically subjective medium. In recent work; Moving Portraits (2013), Moving Stills (2015), Tlatelolco Disproved (2014) and Arquitectura libre (2020) process becomes an important part of the completed piece.
He is now Course Leader for BA (Hons) Photography and BA (Hons) Commercial Photography.
