The University of East London (UEL) is one of England’s top-performing universities for graduate success, ranking in the top 25 per cent in the latest Graduate Outcomes Survey (GOS) data.
Graduate employability at UEL continues to rise, with the University ranking first among London's modern universities for graduate earnings, reflecting the strength of its careers-first model and commitment to social mobility. Other highlights include:
- UEL is 1st among modern London universities and 16th in England for graduate earnings, with 75 per cent of graduates earning more than £27,000 within 15 months of graduation.
- Reflecting a commitment to becoming the UK's leading careers-first university, 93 per cent of UK full-time undergraduate graduates achieved positive outcomes (such as employment or further study) within 15 months of graduating, exceeding the sector average.
- 85 per cent of UEL graduates say their work or further study is meaningful, while 72 per cent of UEL graduates said they are using what they learned at university in their current activity.
The results, gleaned from 2023/24 graduates, provide further evidence that UEL graduates are not only finding employment, but are securing roles that deliver meaningful career progression and financial success. They underline UEL's growing reputation as a careers-first university that equips students with the skills, experience and opportunities needed to succeed in today's labour market.
The latest Graduate Outcomes performance adds to a period of significant progress for UEL. Earlier this month, the University was named the highest climber in the Complete University Guide 2027, rising 30 places. The achievement followed UEL's rise into the UK's top 40 universities in the Guardian University Guide 2026 and continued improvements across student satisfaction, academic performance and graduate outcomes.
Professor Amanda Broderick, Vice-Chancellor and President of the University of East London, said,
These results are a powerful reflection of what matters most to our students: securing rewarding careers, achieving economic mobility and realising their ambitions after graduation.
At UEL, we have built a careers-first model of education that connects learning directly to the opportunities and challenges of the modern world. Our students benefit from industry partnerships, embedded work experience and a curriculum designed to prepare them for future careers from day one.”
UEL's success is being driven by its long-term Vision 2028 strategy, which is focused on creating opportunity, advancing social mobility and delivering education that directly improves life chances. The University's sustained rise across national rankings and sector benchmarks reflects the impact of this approach and its growing recognition across the higher education sector.
The Graduate Outcomes Survey is the UK's largest annual survey of graduates and captures employment and further study outcomes approximately 15 months after graduation. The figures cited in this article come from UEL analysis of Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) data.
