The University of East London (UEL) has welcomed representatives from the Bilgiyi Ticarileştirme Merkezi (BTM), the innovation and entrepreneurship centre of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce.
BTM supports start-ups and scale-ups through incubation, acceleration and commercialisation programmes.
The visit, which showcased the University’s Royal Docks Centre for Sustainability, provided an opportunity to explore future collaboration around innovation, entrepreneurship and sustainable growth.
The visitors and UEL’s own representatives explored their shared commitment to supporting start-ups, fostering business growth and creating international opportunities for entrepreneurs. These are aligned with UEL’s Vision 2028 ambition to be a leading careers-first university driving social mobility, innovation and global impact.

During the visit, the BTM delegation was introduced to UEL’s enterprise ecosystem, including TerraDock, UEL’s sustainability-focused incubation hub that supports start-ups and SMEs in developing and scaling innovative, environmentally responsible businesses.
They also learned about UEL’s partnerships with Grow London Local and the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry, alongside tailored business support programmes and the university’s work in developing talent through internships, apprenticeships and graduate initiatives.
UEL’s representatives also gained valuable insight into BTM’s own start-up incubation and scale-up programmes, and highlighted opportunities to connect networks, exchange expertise and support businesses looking to grow internationally.
UEL looks forward to building on these discussions and developing impactful partnerships that strengthen innovation and entrepreneurship between London and Istanbul.
