New partnership sees Great Britain's U21 and U23 national teams train at SportsDock, further cementing UEL’s reputation as one of the UK's leading destinations for elite basketball.
Great Britain Basketball's brightest young 3x3 players will train at the University of East London (UEL) this summer after the national governing body selected SportsDock as the home of its U21 and U23 performance programmes.
The new partnership will see Great Britain Basketball’s U21 and U23 3x3 national teams base their summer training camps at UEL’s state-of-the-art SportsDock facilities as they prepare for international competition.
The agreement marks another milestone in the University’s growing reputation as one of the UK's leading performance sport universities, strengthening its position as a centre of excellence for basketball and supporting the next generation of British international talent.

The collaboration has grown from UEL's developing relationship with London 3x3 and Alice Hamilton, Great Britain Basketball's Men's 3x3 Programme Consultant. It reflects a shared commitment to developing the next generation of British basketball talent by providing athletes with a high-performance environment that supports their development both on and off the court.
The partnership also marks another step in UEL's ambition to become one of the world's leading universities for 3x3 basketball, building on its rapidly expanding basketball ecosystem and creating new opportunities to strengthen the national performance pathway.
Alongside its successful men's and women's university teams, UEL is home to East London Phoenix, its high-performance basketball and wheelchair basketball franchise. The programme includes teams competing in the National Basketball League and the British Wheelchair Basketball Women's Premier League, reinforcing the University's commitment to developing talent across both able-bodied and para-sport.
UEL's basketball pathway has already helped produce athletes competing at the highest level. Great Britain internationals Paige Robinson and Holly Winterburn - currently playing in the WNBA with the Portland Fire - are both UEL alumna, while London 3x3, the UK’s premier 3x3 basketball team, also trains at SportsDock.
The University’s world-class facilities have long been recognised as a home for elite sport. SportsDock famously hosted Team USA during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and has since welcomed major national and international competitions, including the Basketball England National Finals, as well as serving as a training base for the London Lions. Together, these partnerships have established SportsDock as one of Britain's leading basketball venues.
