Representatives, Sarah and Anna from Action Tutoring, spoke about their experience at the fair, saying:
We have really enjoyed being here today. We've met a load of different people from quite diverse backgrounds and different stages of their student journey. A lot of students are wanting to get volunteer hours for their course, and they're really interested in tutoring. So, it's been a really good day.”
The fair offered students the opportunity to partake in informal networking sessions, gain guidance on how volunteering enhances CVs and career prospects and learn how they can make a difference within the community.
In total, more than 300 students attended the event, with representation from all academic schools. The strong turnout demonstrates the commitment of students who are eager to gain further work experience. The conversations throughout the day between students and the organisations' representatives were engaging and insightful, fostering meaningful connections and opening the door to valuable future opportunities.
Volunteering Coordinator, Adrian Patsalos, led the organisation of the fair and shared his thoughts on the day’s success, saying:
We're delighted to have twenty charities on campus today, covering a wide variety of sectors and interests from music to tutoring, law students, religion, community projects, all offering students, invaluable hands-on experience to help them become more employable. We're very grateful to our charity partners, as well as our volunteering champions, helping us to deliver this event."
By connecting students with organisations that are driving change across London, the University of East London continues to deliver on its mission to transform lives through education and engagement, creating opportunities to help every student succeed within their career pathway.
