The University of East London (UEL) has been shortlisted for three categories at the Apprenticeship Guide Awards 2026, marking another significant achievement for the University’s growing apprenticeship provision.
UEL has been named a finalist for:
- Best University for Apprenticeships
- Best Apprenticeship in Healthcare & Science
- Best Apprenticeship in Education
The Apprenticeship Guide Awards celebrate organisations delivering exceptional apprenticeship programmes across the UK, with this year’s competition described by organisers as highly competitive.
Adam Doyle, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor (Careers And Employer Engagement) at UEL, said:
Being shortlisted across three categories is a fantastic recognition of the dedication and collaboration across UEL. It reflects the hard work of colleagues, employer partners and apprentices who continue to help shape high-quality, industry-focused learning opportunities. We are incredibly proud to see our programmes recognised on a national stage.”
UEL’s apprenticeship programmes have grown significantly since launching in 2017 and now support more than 900 apprentices and over 250 employer partners. The University continues to focus on delivering inclusive, career-focused education that responds directly to workforce needs.
UEL’s apprenticeship provision consistently performs above national benchmarks, with a Qualification Achievement Rate (QAR) of 81.3%, compared with the national average of 54%. The University also achieved a “Good” Ofsted rating during its first apprenticeship inspection in 2023.
This latest recognition builds on recent success, including UEL winning Best Apprenticeship in Education at the 2025 Apprenticeship Guide Awards and being shortlisted for national recognition at the 2026 Apprenticeship and Training Awards.
The winners of the Apprenticeship Guide Awards 2026 will be announced at a black-tie ceremony on 30 April 2026 at New Dock Hall, Royal Armouries, Leeds.
UEL remains committed to expanding apprenticeship opportunities that support learners, employers and communities while helping to close skills gaps across key sectors.
