The University of East London (UEL) has published the first issue of a new international journal dedicated to the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).
Titled Patterns of Practice: An International Journal of Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, the publication will appear twice a year and provide a peer-reviewed, open-access platform for exploring new ideas and debates in higher education.
Jointly hosted by UEL’s Department of Education, the School of Childhood and Social Care, and the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, the journal is international in scope and multidisciplinary in approach.
The inaugural issue focuses on the theme of authenticity in higher education, setting the tone for a publication that seeks to bring fresh perspectives to questions of inclusivity, practice and readiness for the challenges of the 21st century.
Dr Warren Kidd, co-editor-in-chief of Patterns of Practice, said:
Our aim is to create a rigorous but creative space where colleagues from across the globe can share insights and challenge assumptions about teaching and learning. We want the journal to be a forum that fosters debate and helps shape practice for the future.”
Submissions are now open for forthcoming issues, with the editors welcoming contributions from across disciplines and sectors.
Patterns of Practice has been conceived, developed and led by joint editors-in-chief Dr Warren Kidd, School of Childhood and Social Care, and Dr Gabriella F Buttarazzi, formerly of the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching, University of East London.
