Recognition for UEL digital apprenticeships

The University of East London’s (UEL) School of Architecture, Computing and Engineering (ACE) has won national recognition for its apprenticeship provision. ACE was highly commended in the Digital Apprenticeship Provider of the Year category at the prestigious Annual Apprenticeship Conference Awards, held in Birmingham on 27 February.

The school was also shortlisted in a second category, the Construction Apprenticeship Provider of the Year award. The awards celebrate outstanding work by apprenticeship providers and employers in a wide range of industry sectors across the entire country.

Professor David Tann, Dean of ACE, was thrilled by this latest acknowledgement of his school’s successful apprenticeship programme. He said, 

The commendation recognises our commitment to excellence in delivering innovative apprenticeship programmes in digital technology solutions and construction degree apprenticeships. This accolade is a testament to our dedicated team of academic and support staff and to the employers who work tirelessly to provide exceptional learning experiences. And to all our apprentices, whose hard work and dedication has been truly inspirational.”

The School’s approach to apprenticeships combines innovative curricula, real-world professional experience and a supportive learning environment. This ensures that graduating apprentices are not just ready for the current needs of the industry but also supplied with the skills they need to adapt to changing workplaces.

This national recognition is the latest impressive milestone on the University’s path towards apprenticeship excellence since it began offering apprenticeships. The number of higher and degree-level apprenticeships at UEL has increased ten-fold since 2019, up to around 1,600 across 13 different courses and qualifications.

That dramatic expansion looks set to continue, with the University involved with the Green Advisory Panel at the Institute for Apprenticeships. That’s aimed at shaping new pathways in industries concerned with green technology and sustainable enterprise. Planning is already underway to launch ten more apprenticeships over the next two years, underlining UEL’s status as a beacon of innovation in apprenticeship development.
