Games-embedded fashion and the gamification of fashion was also discussed in collaboration with Games Design lecturers and students at UEL.
As part of the Fashion department’s launch event for the UEL-wide Year of Science 2024, the groundbreaking book “Fashion Tech Applied” was also introduced. The authors, Von N. Ruzive and Peter Jeun Ho Tsang, CEO and Founder of Beyond Form, a fashion tech venture studio based in Paris, held a Q+A with the audience, which included students and staff from the School of Arts and Creative Industries and other UEL departments as well as industry representatives.
Beatrice Newman, Head of Fashion, said,
It was great to celebrate, technology and fashion today in a culmination of amazing start-ups, from our partners Beyond Form, to highlighting the fantastic work of our staff and students who are creating and developing AI and digital technology within fashion.
The event celebrated the intersection of technology and creative innovation within the fashion industry and the broader creative sector. Sustainability and ethics were also prominent themes of discussion. We are excited about integrating these themes into our curriculum to innovate the education we provide to our students and future entrepreneurs.
From augmented reality dressing rooms to games embedded fashion, attendees saw first-hand the transformative power of technology in shaping the future of the fashion and creative industry. The event also included book signings, networking and drinks.
The University of East London (UEL) has long been a vibrant centre for new ideas and pioneering innovative approaches within the real-world themes of the creative industry.
Expert academics and students at UEL use virtual and 3D modelling technology in their creative fashion work, exploring innovative design, and production methods that enhance functionality and performance in clothing, putting sustainability at the heart of what they do. This contributes to both aesthetics and functionality ensuring an evolving future for fashion in both design and production.
