UEL offers free personal injury legal advice

The University of East London’s (UEL) Legal Advice Centre is offering free legal advice clinics to anyone wanting to make a personal injury claim. The centre is collaborating with the award-winning law firm Hodge Jones & Allen (HJA) to provide advice, with the confidential clinics taking place either online or over the phone. Founded in 1977, Hodge Jones & Allen made The Times' list of the Best 250 Law Firms in 2024, following similar recognition in 2023, 2022, 2021 and 2020.

A personal injury claim seeks compensation for physical or psychological injuries caused by the fault or negligence of another party. This includes, but is not limited to, accidents at work, road traffic accidents, accidents in public places and injuries caused by defective products. The clinic will look at the impact of the injury being claimed for, if there is sufficient evidence to make a claim and whether compensation may be due.

Daniel Denton, a partner at HJA said: "Personal injuries can significantly impact a person’s quality of life, resulting in compensation. Whether temporary or permanent, injuries may require early rehabilitation and medical treatment. Compensation may result from injuries and their impact on work and social life, as well as future treatment and other losses."

The sessions will be operated by the centre, with senior solicitors specialising in personal injury cases providing advice. UEL students studying Law, Justice and Policing will observe each 30-minute session, and draft written records for the client within 21 days.

You will receive notification of the appointment once your enquiry has been reviewed. Most personal injury cases need to be brought to court within three years of you becoming aware of your illness or injury.
