The East London Sport 2023 Sport in Your Futures Festival, in collaboration with the British Olympic Foundation, on Thursday 8 June saw SportsDock transformed into a vibrant, sporting festival ground. With over 400 enthusiastic primary school children from five East London schools attending, it provided a fantastic opportunity for everyone attending to participate in a variety of sports, have a blast, and discover new passions along the way.
Please take a look at our highlights video of the day!
Sport In Your Futures Summer Festival 2023
Eight sports were provided by some of the UK's most elite sporting bodies.
The festival delivered an exciting line-up of eight different sports activities provided by some of the UK’s elite sporting bodies. The sports catered for every child attending, whether they had a passion for cricket, got a rush from athletics, or were ready to test their balance on skateboards. We also brought the exhilarating thrill of laser run, delivered by Pentathlon GB, and the high-energy excitement of 3x3 basketball, ensuring an unforgettable experience for all.
Students had the chance to delve into the rich sporting heritage through an exhibition featuring items from the British Olympic Association archive collection, proudly housed at UEL. Notably, the London 2012 Olympic torch, Sir Mo Farah's Team GB running top, and other memorabilia from the iconic 2012 Olympics were on display.
More than just sport
The Sport in Your Futures Festival wasn't just about the sport, though. It was an opportunity for children to have a day out exercising, experiencing the University of East London, and engaging with classmates. It was a celebration of community, teamwork, and the power of sport to bring people together, which aimed to showcase the correlation between physical activity, education, and growth.
We’d like to thank everyone who attended and made the event a success. If you’d like to find out more about the Sport in Your Futures programme, check out our webpage.
