London Lions ready for British Basketball League Trophy Finals

On Sunday 20 March 2022, the London Lions men's and women's teams will be featuring in the iconic British Basketball League (BBL) and Women's British Basketball League (WBBL) Trophy Finals.
London Lions are partners of the University of East London (UEL), with the Lions using UEL's world class sporting facilities at SportsDock. The venue in the Docklands hosts training sessions and selected London Lions women’s matches throughout the season.
The partnership between UEL and the London Lions expends beyond the court and training facilities, as both organisations are influential players in the innovative Women's Elite Sport Partnership encouraging more women and girls to participate in sport. As a TASS (Talented Athlete Scholarship Scheme) site for dual-career athletes, the University also offers support for London Lions players in developing their sporting and professional careers with a degree qualification.
UEL sport scholars ready to roar
There are currently five UEL students on the London Lions roster including women's players Holly Winterburn, Cassie Breen, Paige Robinson and Valentina Klocker, with UEL student Bradley Kaboza in the men's squad.
The WBBL Trophy Final will see the London Lions take on Sevenoaks Suns at Glasgow's Emirates Arena. The Lions will be feeling confident after an impressive 82-39 semi-final win against Nottingham Wildcats at SportsDock. UEL student Cassie Breen will be aiming to carry on her good form and build on the 12 points she scored in that match.
Victory will also see the London Lions women's team add to the WBBL Cup they won in January where they beat Newcastle Eagles 87-47.
In the late tip-off in Glasgow, the London Lions men's team will take on Cheshire Phoenix, with UEL student Bradley Kaboza looking to add to the 8:36 minutes and 4 points he scored in the BBL Trophy semi-final.

The whole UEL community will be cheering on our students involved and we wish the London Lions the best of luck in what should be two exciting games.
"The hard work going on behind the scenes is clearly paying off, as it’s no coincidence that both the women's and men's teams made it to the finals, and I'd like to thank the staff at UEL who have played their part in this achievement."
