UEL sport scholars look ahead to Canoe World Championship

Two University of East London (UEL) students will be looking to compete at the Canoe World and European Championships in the summer.
Chris Bowers and Phoebe Spicer are high performance sport scholars at UEL, where they combine representing Great Britain and studying Accounting and Finance at university.
We interviewed Chris Bowers and Phoebe Spicer at the headquarters of British Canoeing, the Lee Valley White Water Centre. They talk about their studies at UEL, being part of the East London Sport community, and share insight into the support they get from lecturers and coaches to help them achieve academic and sporting success.
They also discuss their aims and ambitions for the forthcoming World and European Canoe Championships and future sporting events like the Olympics.

Chris Bowers
Chris is a member of the senior men's British squad and has previously won Gold in the K1 (kayak) team event at the World Championships in Rio.
Phoebe Spicer
Phoebe has represented Great Britain at under-23 level. She is a reserve for the senior women's squad going into the upcoming championships.
