The University of East London has been recognised for its strategy to provide students with meaningful opportunities to link with employers as part of their careers-intensive tuition.
The University received the "highly commended" in the Best University and Employer Engagement Strategy at the annual awards from the Institute of Student Employers (ISE) in Brighton.
The accolade from ISE recognised the University's "outstanding commitment to developing relationships through engagement with employers".
The University's submission said, "As a Careers 1st institution, we want to ensure that every student gains industry insight, accredited work-based learning and networking opportunities within the curriculum.
"Our embedded Mental Wealth and Professional Fitness module is the mechanism to achieve this and the employer engagement strategy facilitates it. The strategy ensures we thread industry into the fabric of the institution, enhancing the impact of our work and adding meaning to research, knowledge exchange, teaching and course design.
"Our Employer Engagement Strategy provides a clear direction to become the first choice for employers, entrepreneurs, and problem solvers in accessing creativity-led talent for their co-creation, innovation, graduate employment, research, and organisational enhancement needs."
Cherise Basslian, director of careers and student enterprise at the University, said, "We're pleased and proud that our work has been recognised as sector leading. This is a useful benchmark that reinforces our own evidence that our strategy is working and we are giving students the best chance to pursue a career of their choice.
"But this is just a milestone on our journey. We have plans to go even further in making the transition from study to career seamless and continue with our aim to ensure that every student engages in meaningful industry engagement and work-based learning during their studies."
