The facilities at SportsDock are getting even better!
The SportsDock gym and fitness centre rooms on Docklands campus will undergo a £500,000 refurbishment with new state-of-the-art equipment, a specially designed indoor cycling studio for live instructor-led and on-demand classes, plus improvements to changing facilities.
Sport and fitness legacy
The existing fitness equipment was donated to UEL by Team USA, who used SportsDock and UEL's Docklands campus as their base during the London 2012 Olympic Games. Over the past 10 years, it has been used by over 35,000 students, staff and local residents. The London 2012 Olympic legacy will live on as the University plans to donate the Team USA gym equipment to two east London boxing centres.
Community impact and creating healthy spaces are at the core of the project. UEL is working with experts at Pulse Fitness to ensure the redesigned gym will be accessible for all fitness levels to help everyone live an active lifestyle.

Works start in the summer
The refurbishment works will run from 30 June until 31 July 2022. The gym will be closed during this period.
However, group exercise classes will remain open, with additional classes being run throughout July. Students, staff and SportsDock members can take advantage of these classes for free during the closure period. The arenas and outdoor football pitches will remain open with the usual discounts for students, staff and members too.
