The University of East London's new Centre of FinTech has started to make an impact on the global stage, with an appearance at the exclusive Point Zero Forum gathering at Zurich.
Dr Iwa Salami, co-director of the Centre, spoke at the event, a gathering of select leaders, founders and investors which discussed the future of financial services and sustainable finance.
Dr Salami called the forum "a truly momentous event for the framing of a global regulatory framework for digital assets".
The academic from the Royal Docks School of Business and Law, said, "I am delighted to have opened the discussions on the crypto regulation roundtable at the Point Zero Forum - a gathering of industry players in the digital assets space, regulators, policy makers and thought leaders.
"This event addressed some very critical issues openly and frankly, such as the regulation of DeFi, and was characterised by some truly engaging discussions expected to contribute to the framing of a global regulatory policy for digital assets."
The cross-disciplinary Centre of FinTech was launched in April with the aim of building a pipeline of FinTech talent that ultimately facilitates the global digital economy as well as working with industry partners on research, regulation and education.
