A team of University of East London (UEL) students win the ABP Biz Psych Cup.
Students from UEL take home the cup at an Association for Business Psychology competition.
A team of three business psychology students from the UEL, have won the ABP Biz Psych Cup, a competition hosted by The Association for Business Psychology (ABP).
The competition brings together business and academia to give students exposure to real clients and experience of applying their psychology skills to solve real business challenges.
The APB Psych Cup challenged six teams from universities the UK and Singapore to design and present posters which showed out business psychology can assist businesses with the real-world challenges.
The UEL team of Jane Shaw, (MSc Business Psychology), Attila Simony, (BSc Hons Psychology) and Nicolae-Andrei Moldovanu, (BSc Hons Psychology), took home the prize for their poster on professional services firm, Arup.
"For the competition we set out to answer how Arup can help their staff across all levels deliver projects within VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous) contexts," said Jane.
"We researched the latest thinking, looking at the academic side of business psychology as well as what could be used to help the client create effective collaboration among their staff.
"After our literature review, we came together and developed a strategy which included adaptive performance, psychological safety with consultative and supportive leadership.
"We then created a practical project check list in a VUCA work that informed how organisations can apply this strategy in a practical manner.
"It means a lot to us to win this competition. It was so surprising to win, as the other teams had done great work! We’re very proud to read the judges' comments about our work," she continued.
