Results from the 2022 National Student Survey (NSS) have revealed Fashion Design students at the University of East London rated the quality of the course significantly above the sector average.
The newly-published results show Fashion Design at the university has risen from 57 per cent in 2021 to 87.5 per cent in 2022 - an increase of 30.5 per cent as an average across all areas of delivery including teaching, learning opportunities, assessment feedback, academic support, organisation and management and learning resources.
This hugely positive result signifies an upward trajectory for the course, which only last month saw final-year students become the first-ever cohort to showcase their designs on the schedule at London Fashion Week - a huge coup for the University.
Fashion Design sits within the University's School of Arts and Creative Industries (ACI).
Beatrice Newman, ACI's head of fashion, said,
We are thrilled these amazing results reflect our students enjoyment and value our new Studio focus - an ethos of building a community of interconnected creatives, staff, students, and industry, with its heart at UEL and tendrils reaching through the dynamic changing fashion industry."
"This has manifested itself by providing platforms for our students' voices with industry bodies such as the British Fashion Council and London Fashion Week which have been invaluable to communicate the talent of our 2022 cohort of fashion designers."
The School has seen a positive increase across all areas in this year's NSS, with learning opportunities, academic support, teaching and learning community performing above the national average.
The NSS is a survey organised by the Office for Students taken by graduating students and aims to highlight students' views surrounding the quality of their education.
The findings are used by universities and colleges, as well as student unions, to drive improvements across multiple areas of students' academic experience.
They are also used by prospective students to help inform their decision on which university to choose and what to study.
Approximately 325,000 students from nearly 400 institutions took part in this year's survey.
