An expert in fashion marketing and business at the University of East London, Alison Lowe, has been invited to become a judge in this year's Great British Entrepreneur Awards.
The awards, which have the endorsement of the Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, aim to reflect the strength of the business start-up sector, celebrating stories of endeavour and imagination regardless of the size or turnover.
Ms Lowe, who is senior lecturer on the BA Fashion Marketing and MA International Fashion Business, said:
I am thrilled to be judging at these awards that recognise the determination and hard work of all business owners.
"The past year has seen the business community tested to the limit by the pandemic but, as a result, we have seen explosions of new and different ideas from creative thinkers who have turned crisis into opportunity. I can't wait to hear their stories,"
Alison Lowe, senior lecturer in BA Fashion Marketing and MA International Fashion Business senior lecturer, said.
Categories in the awards include disruptor of the year, creative industries entrepreneur of the year and fashion and beauty entrepreneur of the year.
Kent Le, programme director of MA International Fashion Business and co-programme director on the BA Fashion Marketing said: "The fact that our teaching staff are influential business leaders in industry is testament to our commitment to building career-relevant degrees which will give students an edge in applying for the jobs they desire.
"I am so thrilled about this news and encourage any students at UEL who currently run businesses to apply for these awards."
Ms Lowe was awarded an MBE for services to the fashion industry in the Queen's Birthday Honours List 2017 and she has built a reputation as one of the leading supporters of emerging fashion and start-up creative talent.
She joined University of East London in September 2020 as a senior lecturer in fashion marketing and is currently working on developing a new MBA in fashion entrepreneurship.
The application deadline for the awards is 11 June so anyone, including student and staff entrepreneurs at the University of East London can apply.
The fashion marketing subject area includes a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. To find out more, go to our course pages.
