Student earns paid placement with professional architects

Mahmoud Abdellettif, a fourth-year MArch Architecture student at the University of East London, has been selected to take up a paid summer work placement position at BPR Architects, one of UEL's Connected Campus design partners.
Mahmoud started his summer work placement in July following a competitive selection process after the School of Architecture Computing and Engineering (ACE) shared a job advert with students. BPR Architects interviewed shortlisted candidates in June.

The summer work placement allows Mahmoud to gain valuable experience and career-ready skills from an award-winning architecture practice, participating in real-life projects as part of the design team.
"This is in line with UEL's careers-first vision, working with employer partners to ensure our students gain employment skills alongside their studies to achieve their career ambitions," says Cherise Basslian, Director of Careers and Student Enterprise.
One of the briefs that Mahmoud is working on is UEL's very own Connected Campus. Connected Campus is a design-led programme to transform the quality of our three campuses by making them more vibrant, welcoming and showcasing UEL as a place where people want to study, work and live.
Mahmoud says, "It's exciting to get hands-on experience in industry and even better to be involved in a project that will improve UEL."
The Connected Campus programme is working with the School of Architecture Computing and Engineering (ACE) and its design and delivery partners to deliver more work placements for our students.
