Resources and facilities
Our Media area is based within a ‘press room’ environment with dedicated computing facilities. Students use the schools equipment store to loan AV equipment and recording devices to work on and off site on professional projects. The school has a radio station that broadcasts and records podcasts of student work.
Art and Design
The Fashion Textiles area relies on its making areas that include a fashion workroom equipped with industrial sewing machines, steam presses, overlockers alongside pattern cutting facilities and mannequins to provide all of the resources needed in garment manufacturing. These areas are complimented by a fully equipped traditional printed textile workshop area and a digital fabrication facility. Our computing facilities in this area allow both Mac and PC design work to take place with large format printing and Lectra pattern cutting software training. Our 3D printing and lasercutting areas are increasingly contributing to the work in this area and allowing new technologies to inform design.
The Writing Centre
We are a writing-focused research, publication and academic support centre within the School of Arts and Digital Industries.
We are unique at UEL for our sole purpose: to promote excellence in writing.
In doing this we provide students, staff and the UEL community with access to cutting edge research in creative writing and unique and personally tailored support for academic writing.
