Developing this understanding along with a sound grasp of technical solutions underpins all aspects of our teaching.

We lie at the heart of cutting-edge research and offer a number of highly focused courses that mirror both the research expertise and industrial experience of our teaching team.

Our courses provide the opportunity to develop knowledge in specialised areas such as business information systems, Internet technologies, software engineering and communications systems security.

In a rapidly changing technological landscape, mastery of such skills will ensure you’ll be in demand when it comes to the world of work.

We’ll help kick-start your career through our excellent local, national and international links with employers and specialists, and you’ll benefit from specialist laboratories to help teach qualifications that have been designed and configured with the very latest equipment and software.

What we’re researching

Our research work is renowned in the UK and across the world, and we’ve developed partnerships so we can transfer our knowledge to a range of industrial, commercial, policy-making and government departments.

As a result, our work has a major impact on IT products and services. We’re also improving public awareness of the social, political and financial impact of information and communication technologies.

Here’s a quick overview of some of our research:

Software – our Software Architecture Research Group covers cloud computing, data centres, energy efficiency, software design, documentation and evaluation and systems modelling.

Cybercrime – in our Information Security and Digital Forensics Research Group, Dr Paolo Falcarin is leading a major European Union project to improve mobile software protection.

Computing evolution - our Centre for Evolutionary Computing in Architecture explores how computing affects and shapes the world around us.

Sustainable IT – as certified Green IT trainers, Gaurav Malik and Mike Kretsis are working on a project that helps small and medium-sized businesses in London reduce their carbon footprints.
