Paying for your course

We understand that when you study in another country you are making a big financial investment in your future. We offer a generous package of sponsorships and bursaries to ensure you receive the best value for money.

Saving you money on your fees

You may be able to apply for a scholarship to study with us at the University of East London. Our International Office can advise you about any opportunities in your own country, the UK or in your particular subject area.

If you previously studied at UEL and were awarded a qualification, you are eligible for our Alumni Scholarship, which is worth 15 per cent off your tuition fees for any subsequent courses you take with us.

To apply, you must already hold one of the following qualifications from UEL:

• undergraduate degree
• master’s degree
• professional doctorate degree
• postgraduate research degree
• pre-master’s course
• International Foundation Programme

You cannot apply for the Alumni Scholarship if you are studying some specific UEL courses. These include: the Diploma in Architecture (RIBA Part 2); a Professional Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE); the Post Compulsory Education and Training Certificate (PCET); or any short course or courses with credit values of less than 120.

For some courses such as architecture or in the field of healthcare, there are sometimes scholarships or bursaries available. Check the course details on the website to find out whether this applies to you.

You can save five per cent on your undergraduate or postgraduate course fees if you pay them in full before mid-September in the year you start your course. If you’re starting your postgraduate course in January 2016, you can save five per cent on your course fees by paying them in full before 22 January 2016.

If you are an undergraduate who is studying at the University of East London for the first time, we will give you a free Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet, pre-loaded with your core text books in eBook form.

In 2014, we became the first university in the UK to give free Samsung tablets to our entire first-year undergraduate intake, benefiting around 4,000 students.

The free tablets are part of our commitment to improve the student experience and enhance interactive learning in the classroom.

As well as accessing your textbooks, your tablet will give you access to UEL’s online library and virtual learning environment and allow you to interact with your lecturers and fellow students.

You will receive your tablet during enrolment in September.

Our international pages list funding sources that may be available for you in your country, or you can contact our dedicated representative for each country or region, who will be able to tell you more.

Check your course page carefully to see if there are any specialist funding opportunities in your area of study - for example, scholarships and bursaries for courses related to healthcare, architecture or teacher training.

You can find out more by speaking to our International Student Advice (ISA) team on +44 (0)20 8223 2805 or at
