Rapper Breis discusses hip-hop literacy
British-Nigerian hip-hop lyricist. Breis (pronounced breeze), will speak about hip-hop literacy at the International Centre for Public Pedagogy at the Cass School of Education and Communities.
Breis is an independent recording artist and author of Brilliant Rappers Educate Intelligent Students. He is also the founder of Student of Life, a hip-hop education organisation that works in schools to engage young people and transforming learning spaces.
Since 2001, Breis has impacted the learning of tens of thousands of students by facilitating hip-hop-inspired rap workshops in schools across the UK and across the globe. He has been invited to Washington DC, Amsterdam, Mozambique, Zanzibar, Vienna and Malaysia as a performer, workshop facilitator and creative consultant.
He is also a seasoned performer who has toured internationally and shared the stage with artists such as Angie Stone, Big Daddy Kane, Black Thought, Omar Sosa, Dele Sosimi, Horndogz, Nneka and Kim Burrell. He is currently working on his debut album.
The talk will take place at UEL's Stratford campus in ED.4.02.
