Students and academics analysed why very few British Asian footballers progress to the professional ranks of the game.
Students examined the reasons behind the low participation rates and representation of British Asian males and females in football. Current football practice was put in context as participants engaged with football academies and clubs, examining the barriers and facilitators to participation in the sport from the grassroots level to professional clubs.
Through surveys, questionnaires, interviews and case studies, students created a comprehensive study on British Asian people in football in England. They also wrote a framework for best practices which encouraged greater participation and progression.
