Meet the team
Erica Masserano (Editor/Writer) is a BA in English and Cultural Encounters from Roskilde University, Denmark and came to UEL for the first time through an Erasmus exchange (do it!). After years of working as a professional translator, she started writing her own thoughts down, and saw that it was nice. She contributed to several UELSU publications and now studies MA Writing: Imaginative Practice at UEL. She cultivates an omnivorous passion for literature and a future as a cat lady, and has recently been made aware that the two are synonymous.
Paul Boyling (Writer - Arts) is a second year Illustration and Photography student. Being a big film and comic book geek for most of his adolescence, he came to the realisation that a career in the arts was inevitable. Hard-working and eager, he hopes to continue studying after university, and become a famously successful comic book artist/writer and a film director (hopefully).
Daniela Bragato (Writer - Arts and Student News) is a second year Creative And Professional Writing
student. After a sabbatical year spent traveling to the other end of the world,
she decided it was time to go back to university. She started writing when
she was a teenager and hasn't stopped since. Above all, she enjoys writing
poems and short stories whilst drinking loads of green tea. She hopes to
publish her first novel before she turns 30.
Celise Galloway (Writer - Literature) is a third year English Literature student that lives, eats and breaths books. This twenty-something bookseller might enjoy nothing better than a cuppa and a good novel but is prepared to do
what it takes to be the boss! She is fully motivated to pursue a career in publishing, be successful on
her own grounds and is ready to leave education and begin a prosperous life in the business world.
Rebecca Hobbs (Writer - Feminism and Fashion) is a third year History BA student. Despite her inquisitive and hard working nature, she has no idea what she wants to do with her life. Opinionated and active, she has a wide range of voluntary experience, such as working at her local charity shop, to the more lucrative position she held as Research Volunteer for the Arcola Theatre. She hopes to continue with her education after university, and to travel the world.
Umida Ibrahimova (Writer - Sports and Student News)
is a second year Journalism student. Her main ambition was to become a professional tennis player, but she had to give up full time training and concentrate on sports journalism. She works as a part time model. She is really passionate towards football, tennis, golf and many other sports. Her goal is to work for BBC or Sky Sports News one day, and she's extremely dedicated.
Danielle Levine (Writer - Student News and Advice) is a confident third year English Literature student aspiring to be a women’s magazine journalist. After graduation she plans
to see some worldly sights whilst gaining valuable work experience along the
way. Her ultimate goal is to be a distinguished writer in the magazine industry
and to become a tea-making expert along the way!
Elodie Mourier (Writer - Fashion) is a French student who just transferred to UEL to complete her BA in Communication Studies. Elodie is passionate about fashion and the arts and she shares these passions on her blog. When she is not at university, she works as a PR freelancer at events such as the Cannes Film Festival. After graduating from UEL, she wants to join an international luxury or fashion brand based in London, and we don't doubt she will.
Sayha Sam (Writer - Student News and Advice)
After years of defiance, Sayha has finally made the plunge to go back to university for her MA in Psychology. Her light and perceptive touch makes her the perfect writer for some chill-out student advice. Curious about people and what makes them tick, her number one patient is her own strange mind. She is not afraid to ask questions, the most frequent of which may be: "What have I done?!?"
Kurtis Simpson (Writer - Videogames)
is a second year Graphic Design and Illustration student, who believes Art to be the only tool which can have a positive and profound effect on the world. He is not afraid to give his opinion on something and enjoys expressing this through his writing. He is passionate about videogames, comic books and computers and hopes to work in the videogame industry after graduating from UEL.
Daisy Watford (Writer - Theatre) is a first year Creative Writing student. She is very passionate about
theatre and would love to become a playwright. Whilst studying at UEL, Daisy
works at The National Theatre. She also enjoys acting, film and bungee jumping (!!!)
and is always seeking to try something different.
