Sociology and Social Policy
Sociology and Social Policy is a dynamic multidisciplinary field which offers exciting and challenging programmes and a range of stimulating modules to chose from.
The academics in the field are involved with a range of research activities, including:
- looking at finding better, practical, solutions to social problems Centre for Institutional Studies;
- understanding the relationships between personal narratives and the social world Centre for Narrative Research;
- understanding the relationship between technology and society Society, Technology and Inequality Research Group
- analysing processes of urban regeneration, especially in East London London East Research Institute;
This active engagement in research (see Activities) is reflected in the enthusiasm of our teaching which has produced very positive evaluations by our students (we had the joint highest score for student satisfaction in London and the praise of our external examiners. In fact we were the top ranked ‘new’ university in London for teaching the subject, and our students’ job prospects in 2012 were also only second in London to the LSE (see Student Experience).
