Psychosocial

The University of East London has been a pioneer in the area of Psychosocial Studies running a unique undergraduate degree programme since 1985. Interest in the approach taken in Psychosocial Studies has grown and there are now significant teaching and research centres across the UK at the University of the West of England, Brighton and Birkbeck College.

The hallmark of Psychosocial Studies is the belief that the traditional boundaries around subject areas often do not help us really understand people and society. To understand people we have to study both their mind and their social context. We are particularly interested in:

  • examining individuals and cultures in all their depth and complexity.
  • seeking to understand how societies and individuals interact and shape each other.
  • understanding people's lives within the context of our changing world.

We will be holding an Open Day for Psychosocial Studies:

  • Wednesday May 15th  from 1-00pm to 3.30pm
  • At our Docklands Campus (Cyprus DLR)
  • East Building Room EBG.06

We have a strong commitment to using insights from different academic areas. Staff come from a range of academic backgrounds including: sociology, psychology, criminology,  literature and cultural studies.

There is a Facebook page for Psychosocial Studies: Facebook
