Programme summary for BA(Hons) Interactive Media Design

UEL's BA (Hons) Interactive Media degree runs alongside our BSc Multimedia programme. Both programmes share modules about interactive multimedia concepts and practices. The Interactive Media degree includes media production skills and media concepts and theories.

Interactive media has developed out of traditional media such as sound, video and television to include all digitalised media forms, such as websites, CD-Roms, DVDs, games, simulations and installations, interactive television, toys and mobile phones. All these media forms are distinguished by their interactivity, a concept which is central to this degree.

The interactive media industries are significant areas of employment – large media companies have interactive departments requiring skills in the specific area of interactive media, a buoyant area of commercial, creative and critical practice. Most large commercial media companies are continuing to invest in online interactive services. There is also a growing number of publicly funded interactive media projects, such as the Public Records Office archive digitalisation project.

About the programme

Interactive media form an integral part of daily life at home and at work, for leisure and entertainment, education and information.
