Programme summary for BSc. (Hons) Business Information Systems

About the programme

Computers and computer-based systems are essential to any organisation today. This programme enables you to learn how to design and implement information systems, how hardware and software work together to provide a platform for information systems, how information systems can be used in a business context, and how IT projects can be strategically managed and developed.

2-subject degrees

You can combine this programme with a range of other subjects as part of a 2-subject degree. Popular combinations include Business Information Systems and Human Resource Management, and Business Information Systems with Cultural Studies.

Programme structure

Programmes in the field of computing are three or four years in length, as the sandwich degrees include a one-year work placement. If you want to change to one of our other specialised degrees, or to a more general Computing degree, this is easy to arrange. Students are able to work in groups to develop computer-based solutions to real-life situations, and encourage doing so in co-operation with local companies.

Career opportunities

Graduates of this degree combine business knowledge with technical skills and are qualified for a range of careers, including business analyst and IT strategist. The programme also provides a suitable entry route to a variety of postgraduate degrees at UEL.

Admission

  • 200 UCAS tariff points or equivalent
  • Relevant Access programme
  • Equivalent overseas qualifications, if English is not the first language, a minimum of IELTS of 6.0 with a minimum of Reading and Writing 6.0; Listening and Speaking 5.5 or equivalent.
  • Mature students, without appropriate academic qualifications but with relevant work experience, attend for interview and aptitude test.
