Managing your money

The Student Money Advice and Rights Team (SMART) is part of the Student Life team at UEL and provide advice, information and guidance on government and university funds.

The SMART Team can:

  • Work with you to help you take control of your financials, tackle debt and access the funds you’re entitled to
  • Provide advice, information and guidance on Government and University Funds
  • Administer the Access to Learning Fund (ALF), Emergency Loans, Teacher Development Agency bursaries, care leaver and foyer bursaries  and others
  • Work with the Financial Services Authority (FSA) to improve financial know how among students
  • Give guidance on other money related issues.

We also run regular workshops on things such as; student funding, Access to Learning Fund, Student Parents and Trust Funds and Charities.  For details of our upcoming workshops please email us.

SMART are now also offering evening appointments on Tuesdays at the Docklands Campus and on Thursdays at the Stratford Campus between 5 pm and 6:30 pm. If you wish to book an evening appointment please send an email to smart@uel.ac.uk with your student ID number, contact number and a brief explanation of why you require the appointment.
