Also known as a ‘degree’, or ‘first degree’, this leads to a Bachelor Award (usually BA or BSc) and is a passport to a wide range of careers, as well as opening up opportunities for study at postgraduate level.
Typically an undergraduate degree takes three or four years to complete full time, and five years if you opt for a part-time study route. We offer additional flexibility to suit your circumstances and career goals, with Extended Degree and Foundation Degree options. You may also opt for a Combined Honours programme and study two subjects in tandem.
Along with wide ranging study possibilities, UEL offers a great choice of subjects. We have eight different Academic Schools, each focusing on a particular subject area – for example, the Business School offers degrees in subjects such as Accounting, Economics and Business Studies; Architecture & Visual Arts (AVA) includes Photography, Graphic Design and Fashion Design.
To join a degree programme you need to demonstrate a certain level of knowledge. The usual route is A Level (or equivalent) examination results. You will normally be expected to have achieved a certain points total to qualify, with points being calculated using the UCAS points system.
Other achievements that may enable you to study at degree level include professional qualifications, relevant employment experience or completion of an approved Access programme. These offer alternative routes for students who lack traditional academic backgrounds or have been out of education for a while.
Our Study at UEL section gives more guidance on how a degree can work for you. To browse the wide range of programmes we offer, see our undergraduate pages.
