When to apply

Early applications are always a good idea – as programmes fill up fast. Here are some guidelines for both September and February applicants.

September applications

Your application can be made just over a year in advance (UCAS begins accepting online applications from 1 September) and the closing date for receipt of first-round applications is mid-January. You can get more guidance from UCAS.

You can make applications after this point, and although universities are not obliged to consider them, most do. At UEL we welcome applications at any time and advise you to go ahead and apply!

If you do not secure a place by the end of February, you can use UCAS Extra, which enables you to apply direct to one university at a time – either electronically or via a paper application. You should expect a decision in ten days, or an invitation to come to interview.

Art and Design

If you are applying for studio-based art and design programmes, applications are handled in a different way because your portfolio of work needs to be considered at interview. This is handled via an UCAS Route B application.

You can apply from January via UCAS and the closing date for first round interviews is towards the end of March. Applications can be considered after this point at UEL’s discretion.

Please note that all studio-based art and design programmes require completion of an Art and Design Foundation programme or equivalent. You can get more advice from the college where you are studying.

Employer-sponsored applications

If you are being sponsored by your employer for a September start full-time programme, you apply via UCAS (see September applications).

However, if you would like to study at UEL because of its proximity to your work or the specific nature of the programmes we offer, you are welcome to contact the School you wish to apply to before submitting your UCAS form.

February applications

There is no set opening or closing date for February start programmes at UEL, although we do advise you to apply as soon as possible. Apply now.
