Fees, Grants and Scholarships

As a full-time undergraduate student with UEL you should be eligible for financial support and may also qualify for non-repayable grants and awards.

Tuition fee loans

You can apply for a loan to cover the cost of your annual tuition fees from the government. You won’t have to start paying it back until after you complete your programme successfully and are earning more than £15,000 a year.

Student loans are designed to be manageable, so even if you are earning £18,000 a year, you’ll only be paying back £5.19 a week.

Grants for living costs

As a full-time undergraduate student you may also be eligible for a Maintenance Grant to help with living costs while you study.

Grants are assessed based on your household income, so you may receive a partial or full grant – and because it’s a grant this is money you don’t have to pay back.

Loans for living costs

Provided you are a UK student aged under 60, you can also apply for a Maintenance Loan at special student rates to cover your living expenses. The amount you can borrow depends on:

  • how much Maintenance Grant you receive
  • whether or not you live at your parents/guardians’ home
  • your household income

Additional grants

Extra non-repayable funding is available for some full-time students.
You may be eligible if you are a:

  • parent with dependent children
  • carer who looks after a dependent adult
  • student who has a disability or dyslexia
