Student Services comprises five teams, being the Helpdesk Team, Student Money Advice & Rights (SMART), Disability & Dyslexia and The Regional Access Centre (DDAC), the Student Health & Wellbeing Team and the Children’s Garden.

Mike Moore is Director of HR Services and acting Director of Student Services. His role is to lead both services, to provide a first-rate student and staff experience

Alison McGrand is Senior HR Manager (Policy and Operations) and, as acting line manager of the Student Services’ management team, co-ordinates the work of that team.
In most cases, the Helpdesk will be the first point of contact for both staff and students with any non-academic queries. The Helpdesks assist with day-to-day queries but also give guidance on more complex issue such as enrolment and fee payment.

Is responsible for leading the Helpdesk Team and co-ordinating university wide events for First Week.

The SMART team are on hand to help with student money related issues providing advice, information and guidance on government and university funds, the Access to Learning Fund, Emergency Loans, Teacher Development Agency bursaries and all aspects of managing their money most effectively to equip them with a set of transferable and professional and personal skills which they can utilise to support themselves whilst they are studying as well as over their lifetime.

Has responsibility for the strategic leadership of the SMART Team and providing budget management advice for Student Services ensuring that services are delivered to the highest standards possible.
