Supporting You

An initial support consultation is a 1-hour session between a student that requires support and a member of the Wellbeing Team that at Student Services and is offered on a daily basis at both campuses.
It is a welcoming and non-judgmental space for students to discuss their emotional, physical, mental health and other needs.
It is a confidential and professional service that will provide advice, information and recommendations to meet those needs.
The Wellbeing Team abides by the Data Protection Act and maintain client confidentiality and only share information internally or externally with other professionals on a ‘need to know’ basis and in negotiation with the student. However, we may need to break confidentiality when we believe someone may be at serious risk of harm to self or others.

An ISC is NOT a counselling session but referrals may be made for counselling internally or externally following the ISC if deemed necessary.
An ISC does NOT deal with critical incidents, major incidents or first aid.
- If you feel there is a need for an urgent response, do not hesitate to contact 999 or our Critical Incident Team directly on extension 7599 between 9am and 5pm.
- If it is a Major Incident please contact the emergency services on 999.
- If there is a need for First Aid contact the First Aider within you School/Service (check www.uel.ac.uk/hs/firstaiders.htm for an updated list of our first aiders) or, if unable to reach a First Aider, call the emergency services on 999

- Text - Text the word ‘Support’ to 07624804918 (only texts, no voice calls)
- Skype - Add Skype name: uel_wellbeing
Print and complete the Student Information Form and bring it with you at the ISC.
Please inform us 2 days in advance in case you are not able to make it and we will book another ISC for you.
