Why should I register with a Doctor?
Everybody should register with a doctor local to where they live. For this purpose, your term-time address is considered your permanent address, as you would normally spend more time here than at your home address. Even though most of us feel healthy, we can never know when we might need to see a doctor quickly, and if you are not registered, you might have to wait longer for an appointment.
How do I register with a Doctor?
It is very simple! If you live in Newham, you can come to see our Wellbeing team, or contact us, in the Student Services Centre and ask for a registration appointment. If not, please contact NHS Direct. You will be asked to provide your post code and a GP practice will be indicated to you. The registration that is done at the Health Centres is very straightforward. You will be asked to fill in a health questionnaire. After this, you are officially registered.
How do I get advice when the centre is closed?
If your query is regarding the UEL Health Centres, and is not urgent, you have the following options:
1. Phone: 020 8223 7611 (10am – 2pm Mon – Fri) and leave a message. We will reply shortly.
2. Email: wellbeing@uel.ac.uk You can also use this for regular health queries.
In case it is an emergency or you need immediate attention, please contact the local A&E (Emergency Department) or call an ambulance by ringing 999 or 112.
If you just require advice, you can call 24 hours the NHS Direct Line on 0845 46 47.
