UEL’s Counselling Service is here to help you when difficulties of a psychological or emotional nature develop which interfere with your life and academic work.
Counselling provides a confidential environment where you can explore and express aspects of yourself that may be painful or uncomfortable. This may involve thinking about your past, as well as present relationships, and exploring your feelings about these experiences.
This exploration can enable you to work towards relating with others and living in a more fulfilling and satisfactory way. Find out why you might seek counselling.
If you are interested in receiving counselling at UEL, the first step is for you to book an appointment for an ISC with a member of the Wellbeing team.
For urgent emotional or mental health problems, see Getting Help Out of Hours.
We are located at both campuses and if you’d like to find out more about our service, or book an appointment, you can call us on 020 8223 7611 (10am – 2pm Mon – Fri) or send your query by email: wellbeing@uel.ac.uk
If you need to speak to someone urgently due to an emotional health crisis, or our offices are closed, and you want to talk to someone you might consider phoning the Samaritans. They can be reached on 08457 909090 / jo@samaritans.org.
You can also go to your local Accident & Emergency Department at your nearest Hospital.
