UEL has been granted scholarships funded jointly by Sir John Cass's Foundation and the Lord Mayor's Office in the City of London. Three scholarships will be awarded to full-time undergraduate students who start a course at UEL in September 2011.
Awards are for £7000 a year (for a maximum of three years). Applicants must meet the following criteria:

All full-time ‘home’ and EU students who successfully complete their first semester of study and continue into the second semester will receive £500 worth of credits.
These credits can be spent on a range of goods or services designed to support you in your studies and include books, computers, campus rent and Oyster card top-ups. In years two and three, students who successfully complete their first semester of study and continue into the second semester will receive £300 worth of credits which can be spent in the same way.

‘Home’ students who receive the full Maintenance / Special Support Grant, whose household income is lower than £25,000 and are being charged the maximum fee of £3,375 a year will receive a Standard Bursary of £338 for the year.
EU students may be eligible for a discretionary bursary, based on having a household income that would have entitled them to receive a full grant as a UK student.
Payment is made directly into students’ bank accounts during the second semester and no application is necessary.

To recognise the achievement of new UK/EU students who will be joining UEL on a full-time undergraduate programme we award £1,000 Undergraduate Scholarships each year. Successful applicants will receive cheque payment in two equal instalments approximately 4 weeks after the start of each semester in the first year of your studies (ie, October and Feburary)
We would like to encourage all eligible applicants to apply for the scholarships as they provide a great way for your to support your studies and get off to a flying start at university.

Any full-time undergraduate ’home’ student who lives in, or has ever lived in a foyer may be entitled to a bursary worth £1,000 per year.
Foyer University Bursary applicants should be aged under 25, but students aged over 25 who have lived in a foyer during the year before commencing their course may also be eligible.

Once you have applied online, you will be sent a letter from the Foyer Federation which will need to be completed by your Foyer keyworker and then forwarded to Mandy Hey in SMART with a covering letter from yourself.

Any full-time undergraduate ‘home’ student who lives in, or has ever lived in, local authority care may be entitled to a bursary worth £1,000 per year.
‘Care Leavers’ aged under 25 should write directly to Mandy Hey in SMART requesting the bursary and enclosing a letter from their social worker, caseworker or Home manager confirming that they are a ‘care leaver’ and the addresses and dates of their residence in care.
The award will be payable in two instalments of £500, one at the beginning of each semester, and care leavers are able to receive an award for each year of their studies.
