Being Here

Natasha Connell

“I took my second year out when I had my first child. When I returned to UEL I got a childminder so that I didn’t have to juggle study and childcare quite so much."

“In a couple of years’ time I’ll have become a fully-fledged career woman and I’ll have proven to everybody that I can be both a successful mother and designer."

Natasha chose to combine textiles with marketing to give her greater versatility in seeking employment. She chose UEL because of our proximity to the City and close relationship with industry. It meant that we could provide her with the vital stepping-stone into professional practice.

Having graduating from our School of Architecture and Visual Arts, Natasha Connell now works as a freelance textile designer, specialising in both fashion and home prints. Her work was recently featured in the design blog print & pattern.
