This web-site is to support research by David Chapman (University of East London) and Adrian Palka (Coventry University) into the history and development of the Steel Cello and Bow Chime and their place in a wider history of sound-sculpture and invented instruments.
As part of this research project there is also a DVD produced which comprises a 30 minute documentary on the Steel Cello ad Bow Chime. The documentary is based on recent interviews with Bob Rutman, Adrian Palka and Wolfram Der Spyra about their performance work with these sound sculptures and illustrated by archive footage of a large number of performances. The DVD also contains a collection of material (photos, posters, programmes) related to Bob Rutman’s work with the Steel Cello and Bow Chime dating back to the early 1970’s.
While stocks last, this DVD is available free to those working in higher education or researching / performing in related areas. If you would like a DVD, or would like to discuss or receive further information please go to contact page for details.
