Student Life

Before Arriving

The idea of starting at university, sorting out your finances and accommodation may feel intimidating at first, but follow these steps and you'll be ready to go!

Make sure you complete the checklist below before you arrive so that you can settle in and start enjoying your time at UEL as soon as possible!

1. Enrol online

Once you have accepted your place at UEL, you will receive an email from us asking you to enrol online, via UEL Direct. It is important that you do this as soon as you can so we know that you are starting with us and we can send you important information about enrolment and your first few weeks at UEL.

Your login will be included in the email that you have been sent asking you to enrol and is also on the front of the Starting at UEL magazine that we have sent you in the post. Your password is your date of birth dd-mmm-yy e.g. If your date of birth is the 1st January 1999 your password would be 01-jan-99.

You must wait for your personalised instructions before attempting to enrol online.

2. Pay your fees
You will pay your fees through UEL Direct, and will be asked to do this as one of your enrolment tasks. Our website has a wealth of information about financial support for students and what funding and scholarships you are eligible for, so visit our fees and funding pages to find out more.

3. Find out about your School induction and Module Enrolment
During first week your school will run an induction session, it is essential that you attend this session. During this induction you will find out more about your programme, meet your lecturers and fellow freshers. Find out more about your school induction. During First Week you will also be able to pick up your Student ID card in the enrolment Centre. Please note that you will be required to bring original proof of the qualification stated on your application form.

4. Make Friends Online
If you’re really keen to get ahead, you can even start making friends in advance! Check out the UEL Facebook and twitter sites to chat with other students who are just about to start, ask questions, get things sorted and if you’re moving to London for the first time there are sure to be some Londoners on hand to give you the low down.

Once you’ve got the above sorted you’re almost ready to start at UEL! Remember to check out when you should be on campus for your school induction and that you have completed all your enrolment tasks.

5. Speak to our Disability and Dyslexia team (Optional)
If you will need any assistance during your time at UEL then get in touch early with our Disability and Dyslexia team who will be able to assess your needs and ensure you get access to any support you need. They’ll also be able to advise you about funding you can apply for to pay for support and equipment during your studies.
