Basketball is one of UEL’s focus sports, and the club benefits from SportsDock, which was home of the US Basketball team prior to and during the 2012 Olympic Games.  We have strong  links with local club and National league side Newham All Star Sports Academy (NASSA) , and basketball players choosing to study at UEL will benefit from priority access to facilities, coaching and support.

International Rowing Sports Scholarships

University of East London are offering sports scholarships for rowers who compete at an international level and who start studying at UEL in 2013.  The scholarships, which will cover full international tuition fees, are open to individuals from outside the EU.  Both undergraduate and postgraduate students are eligible to apply.  Applicants should apply for a place at the university before they apply for a scholarship. Rowing is the most successful sport at UEL, and we currently have eight international rowers in our successful squad.  John Collins and Alan Sinclair were the first to represent UEL at the European Universities Rowing Championship in 2011, an event at which they won gold in the Men’s Double Sculls.  The rowing club trains out of the London Regatta Centre on the Royal Albert Dock by our Dockland Campus.  University of East London’s wide range of programmes and flexible study policies enables us to attract the top talent from the prestigious Leander, London and Henley Rowing Clubs.

ASICS Athletics Scholarships

The newest additions to our Sports Scholarship Programmes are two ASICS-funded scholarships for the sport of athletics.  The scholarships consist of funding of £5000 towards the development of emerging athletics' talent for one academic year.  Funding can be put towards competition and training costs and support to help an athlete maximise their potential within the sport.

The scholarships are funded through part of a legacy agreement with ASICS, one of our London 2012 Olympic Partners.  In addition to the Sports Scholarships ASICS are also funding Undergraduate Bursaries, PhD studentships and Coaching Clinics for UEL Students.

Applications for the Asics Sports Scholarships are via the UEL Sport Scholarship application form. Please tick the ASICS sports scholarship tick box if you wish to be considered for this award.

Successful applicants will be expected to carry out at least 10 hours of ambassadorial duties for UEL and do at least ten 10 hours of appearance and ambassadorial work on behalf of ASICS.  They will also be expected to compete for UEL in the BUCS Indoor Championships, BUCS T&F Championships (and BUCS Cross Country/Marathon or Multievent Championships if relevant).

Successful applicants can be studying towards any undergraduate or postgraduate, but must not be receiving funding or sponsorship, monetary or in kind, from a conflicting company (e.g. another clothing or footwear manufacturer). Scholarships are open to all home, EU and International fee paying students.
