Please ensure that you read this information and criteria carefully before completing the application form.
Background
The Newham High Performance Programme replaces what was formerly known as The Newham Sports Academy. The Programme aims to create a world class support environment to nurture sporting talent within the London Borough of Newham, and to increase the representation of Newham residents at National and International level. The Programme specifically targets the identification of talented sports performers within the borough and to build on the work of schools, clubs and other community partners in supporting this talent.
Successful applicants can expect a range of support to meet their specific training needs. Typically, support will include additional access to coaching where relevant; access to training facilities; strength and conditioning, sports science and lifestyle support; and the opportunity to apply for bursaries to meet specific training, equipment and competition costs.
The Programme is specifically concerned with filling gaps in the support programme of talented athletes, and athletes will not receive any direct funding through the Programme.
Who can apply?
To be eligible for support you need to:
‘Wildcard’ consideration may be given to those who have outstanding potential but who have limited experience within their sport. Please note that achieving the above criteria does not guarantee selection onto the programme.
