Home/EU Student Athlete Scholarship Scheme

Applicant Notes

Applications are invited from prospective and current UEL student athletes to apply for the SASS award. Applicants must be seeking to study for a minimum of one year as an undergraduate or postgraduate level student. All students need to have gained an offer from UEL (unconditional or conditional) in order to be considered for a SASS award. Applicants can be considered from any of the EU fee countries (see EU countries information).

Athlete Support :-

  • Athlete support services (ie, strength and conditioning).
  • Support from the Flexible Elite Athlete Policy.
  • Docklands accommodation available throughout the students full term (normal costs apply)

Athlete Service Level Agreement :-

  • Compete for UEL in BUCS competition.
  • Compete in National/International events (if appropriate).
  • Be actively involved in the UELSports club related to their respective sport.
  • Pro-actively engage in marketing and promotional activities for UEL.
  • Commit to specified ambassadorial activities for the Director of Sport (upto 10 hours per academic year)
  • Maintain and improve their current performance level (as described in the application).
  • Students not adhering to the Service Level Agreement above will have their award immediately cancelled at the discretion of the Director of Sport.
  • If you fall ill or incur an injury during your award year, your award will be reviewed and support allocated based on your immediate needs. At the discretion of the Director of Sport.
